Quester's Log — Earth Date: 09.11.2026
I wasn't looking for a village.
I was looking for somewhere to begin.
The map I'd been carrying was old, incomplete, and frankly not very helpful. One corner was missing, the ink had faded in several places, and someone had apparently spilled something on the part that might have explained where I was supposed to be going.
Typical.
What I found instead was a village.
Or what was left of one.
The road leading into the settlement was overgrown, the buildings stood empty, and doors hung open as though everyone had simply walked away in the middle of whatever they had been doing.
There were no villagers.
No merchants.
No craftsmen.
No children running through the streets.
Not even anyone complaining about the condition of the place.
That was probably the strangest part.
The village had once belonged to an Overlord.
At least, that's what the old markings on the remaining buildings suggested.
An enormous stone seal bearing the symbol of the former ruler still stood above the entrance to what appeared to have once been the central hall.
Whatever happened here, it had not been kind to the place.
There were overturned carts.
Broken signs.
Empty stalls.
A few scattered books and scrolls.
And several treasure chests.
Some were empty.
Some were not.
I wasn't sure whether that was good news.
Or a warning.
Then I noticed something else.
A ship.
It was just visible beyond the cliffs, heading out toward open water.
A pirate ship.
I watched it disappear into the distance.
Then I looked back at the village.
"Hmm."
Perhaps I had just found the reason nobody was home.
The question was...
What were the pirates looking for?
And more importantly—
What was left behind?
I have no idea who the previous Overlord was.
I have no idea where the villagers went.
I have no idea why this territory was abandoned.
But I do know one thing.
I'm tired of looking at ruins.
If this place is truly mine to rebuild, then I'm going to need to figure out what happened here first.
So that's where the adventure begins.
Not with a treasure map.
Not with a grand castle.
Not even with a kingdom.
Just one ruined village...
and a rather suspicious pirate ship sailing away from it.

Find out where the villagers went.
Find out what the pirates were looking for.

Find something worth rebuilding.
